Philadelphia Music Theater Works welcomed 2008 Richard Rodgers Award winning composer and lyricist Ryan Scott Oliver in an original evening of songs from one of America's most promising new voices in the musical theater on January 8, 2009. "A stellar and acclaimed ensemble of Philadelphia actors including Barrymore Award winner Michael O'Brien, Mat Burrow, Jeremiah Downes, Sarah Gliko, Colleen Hazlett-O'Brien and Alex Keiper unravel the complicated world of contemporary urban life in your 20's with all of the obsessions, compulsions, rejection, revelations and tantric sex in The Ryan Scott Oliver Project."

The Ryan Scott Oliver Project, under the direction and development of Billy Bustamante and with musical direction by Resident Music Director Christopher Ertelt continued a standard of fostering the future of the American musical in Philadelphia.

Director Billy Bustamante described Ryan and his work with this new production: "Ryan Scott Oliver is, without a doubt, one of the most exciting and gifted new composers I have encountered in my career. He possesses a unique ability to create songs that explore the joys, pains and triumphs of our changing society while at the same time, un-earthing new glimpses and perspectives on the timeless human condition... I am very excited to be exploring his work with The Ryan Scott Oliver Project."
