Joey Contreras at Joe's Pub

Joey Contreras is a new musical theatre songwriter in the New York scene. He received a BFA in musical theatre from University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA and is currently in New York University's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. Within his first few years in NY, Joey's music and arrangements have been featured at Joe's Pub, Le Poisson Rouge, the Laurie Beechman Theater, The Duplex and the 2010 Broadway in South Africa Gala. Internationally, performances of his music have stretched as far as Australia, Germany, South Korea and the UK.

Joey was awarded the 2010 ASCAP Foundation Max Dreyfus Scholarship Award. He remains at work on This Thing Called Love, a song cycle originally workshopped with Philadelphia Music Theatre Works, as well as the coming of age musical, Wallflower. His recently released debut album, "Love Me, Love Me Not: The Music of Joey Contreras" features exciting guest performances by Broadway talent, and is available on iTunes and CDBaby.com.
