Growing up is hard for everyone. However, young people who are gay, who think they might be gay or who are perceived to be gay often have a particularly difficult time. In the past several months, at least nine young men have killed themselves after being bullied about their perceived sexual orientation.

Columnist Dan Savage recently started the It Gets Better Project to build a collection of online personal stories that encourage young people to stick it out. Yes, growing up can be very rough but it does get better. Visit the website at http://www.itgetsbetterproject.com/.

I'd like to take Dan's campaign one step further and connect kids in trouble with people who can help them today. Yes, it DOES get better - but you don't have to wait. Broadway Sings for the Trevor Project - "It Gets Better"

In October, 2010, songwriters Jay Kuo and Blair Shepard enlisted top Broadway performers to sing their new song "It Gets Better." They recorded the song and made it available for purchase on iTunes for $.99. All download proceeds benefit the Trevor Project. Buy the song on iTunes now! I've posted two videos of the song below as well.
