Gabriel St. Paul is a graduate of Ohio State University, with a major in Vocal Performance.

In early 2010, Gabe entered three major singing competitions. He made the top ten cut in all three of them, winning two. The contests were:

• Broadway's Next Big Star - sponsored by BroadwaySpace.com - WINNER
• Signature Idol - sponsored by Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre - WINNER
• Big Broadway Break - sponsored by Staybridge Suites in Times Square - FINALIST

"King of the World" - Songs for a New World by Jason Robert Brown
The song really communicates the struggle every artist goes through of realizing their own weaknesses and accepting that they're only human.

"Unexpressed" by John Bucchino
Many that know me would say it sounds like I wrote the song myself, because it is something that I have gone through, and continue to feel at moments. It's probably me at my purest both in voice and presence.

"Grateful" by John Bucchino
This is a very intimate piece for ANY performer who sings it. I dedicated this performance to my family, friends, and especially my Mom.

"Awaiting You" - Myths and Hymns by Adam Guettel
This was a song I attempted to take on some years ago, but didn't have the maturity yet to handle it. I have loved it for years, and so when my senior recital came up, I decided it was time to grab this bull by the horns and conquer it. It's a piece I hope to continue to grow into.

"Migratory V" - Myths and Hymns by Adam Guettel
While "Hero and Leander" and "Awaiting You" might have been the hardest songs from the set I did on my recital, this song particularly struck a chord with me because of its simplicity. It is this gentle, beautiful song that has a message of community, and on the other side it was fun to stretch out the low range and sing... well simply.

"We Beseech Thee" - Godspell by Stephen Schwartz
I had been singing nothing but opera and classical musical theatre for two years at OSU before I was cast in the theatre department's production of Godspell. Needless to say, everyone that knew me was surprised when I popped out with a big gospel number near the end of the show. The music director gave me free range with the song which gave me the freedom to soar and have fun every night.

"Quiet" by Jonathan Reid Gealt
This song pulls on so many different relationships, and has always been one that resonates with me.

"Granada" by Augustin Lara
As part of my classical voice set for my senior recital, since I come from an operatic background, it was probably the most fun to sing. It has a certain Latin flare that is exciting to be a part of.

In the long term, Gabe wants to continue performing and making music of all kinds. Whether under the bright lights of Broadway, or in a hole-in-the-wall cafe, he wants to pursue his dream of performing.
