Daniil Simkin
Daniil was born in 1987 to Russian ballet dancers; his family moved to Wiesbaden, Germany in 1990.
Daniil started appearing on stage with his father, Dmitrij Simkin, when he was six and began training
with his mother, Olga Alexsandrova, at age ten.
Daniil joined the Vienna State Opera ballet company at 19 as a demi-soloist.
He danced his first principal classical role with the Lithuanian National Opera in 2007 as
Basilio in Don Quixotte.
Most recently, Daniil accepted a position as soloist with the American Ballet Theatre beginning
Fall, 2008.
Ballet Competitions
Daniil has won many prestigious ballet competitions, including:
- 2006: Senior Gold Medal, USA International Ballet Competition, Jackson
- 2005: Grand Prix, International Ballet Competition, Helsinki
- 2004: 1st Prize and Gold Medal, 21st International Ballet Competition, Varna
