Urinetown: the Musical - Belmont University

Urinetown is a satirical comedy musical, with music by Mark Hollmann, lyrics by Hollmann and Greg Kotis, and book by Kotis. It satirizes capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, and petty small town politics. Belmont produced the show at the Massey Performing Arts Center on November 19-22, 2009 in Nashville, TN.

Urinetown originally debuted at the New York International Fringe Festival, was produced Off-Broadway at the American Theatre for Actors and then moved to Broadway, opening at Henry Miller's Theatre on September 20, 2001 and closed on January 18, 2004. The show was nominated for 10 Tony Awards and won three: Best Director (John Rando), Best Original Score (Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis) and Best Book of a Musical (Greg Kotis).

The Belmont cast featured Michael Rosenbaum ('10) as Officer Lockstock, Brittany Church ('11) as Little Sally, Lauren Turner ('10) as Ms. Pennywise, Ben Laxton ('11) as Bobby Strong and Maggie McDowell ('11) as Hope.

UGC Executives included Brad Lawson ('10) as Mr. Cladwell, Erik J. Christensen ('12) as Mr. McQueen, Jordan Parkyn ('12) as Senator Fipp, Casey Hebbel ('12) as Ms. Millenium, Calvin Malone ('12) as Dr. Billeaux, Emma Carpenter ('12), Caleigh Alessi ('12), Kevin Budd ('11 1/2), Elizabeth Smith ('10), Elizabeth Lombardino ('12) and Kelsey Self ('12).

The Poor Ensemble included Devin Clevenger ('12) as Tiny Tom, Catherine Birdsong ('10) as Ma Strong, Hannah Jackson ('10) as Soupy Sue, Kate Brassel ('10) as Little Becky Two Shoes, Deonte Warren ('10) as Hot Blades Harry, Douglas Waterbury-Tieman ('12) as Billy Boy Bill, Robbie Lee ('12) as Robby the Stockfish, Laura Beam ('10), Michelle Garramone ('12), Meghan Glogower ('12), Sam Ward ('12) and Helen Bush ('12).
