"Blonde Ambition: A Benefit Concert for Broadway Barks" was a one-night-only cabaret featuring five of Broadway's favorite blondes.
The event was a benefit for
Broadway Barks
at the Triad Theater in New York City on February 6, 2012.
The concert, with music direction by Benjamin Rauhala, featured performances by
Lora Lee Gayer (Follies),
Tess Soltau (The Addams Family),
Ryah Nixon (9 to 5),
Jessica Waxman (Beehive)
and Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (A Little Night Music). These five young Carnegie Mellon graduates paid tribute to their favorite Blondes - from Barbra to Britney -
and sang some from the Broadway songbook, new and old, and some of their unique spins on pop tunes.
Broadway Barks came about as a result of co-founders Bernadette Peters' and Mary Tyler Moore's passion for animals.
Originally conceived as a program to promote the adoption of shelter animals, Broadway Barks has evolved into a group that not only
focuses on the plight of homeless animals but has opened communications and coordinated efforts among the numerous shelters and rescue groups
working thoughout the New York City area.
