Bobby Cronin
Bobby Cronin began his career as a director with a passion for developing new musicals.
Bobby continued directing and moved into writing which he always did as a hobby.
He wrote a new book for Friends' creators Marta Kaufman and David Crane's PERSONALS
for Ergo Theatre Company with which he worked with Stephen Schwartz.
He and Stephen then worked together on Bobby's conceptual FROM THIS DAY FORWARD: A SCHWARTZ JOURNEY
which takes over 100 of Stephen's song to tell en entirely new plot driven musical about four people living and loving in NYC.
The show headlined the Midtown International Theatre Festival and was musical directed by AVENUE Q's Mark Hartman.
Bobby was next asked to adapt A CHRISTMAS CAROL for Northern Stage in VT.
He wrote the book, lyrics, did musical arrangements and directed (never again!).
The show, written with Angelyn Fullarton Benson, was a hit for the theatre and followed with a mini-tour.
The show has been done at five theatres across the country with more in the works.
Bobby conceived and directed THAT'S ANDY starring Laura Bell Bundy, Tony winner Beth Leavel,
Lauren Kennedy, Burke Moses, Geroge Dvorsky, Brad Bass, Joan Barber and more. He contributed to the music, lyrics and book.
Bobby, who had minored in music theory in composition at Yale University, always wrote music but kept it to himself or his close friends.
After sharing one song at a benefit in Vermont, the response was strong enough to bring Bobby to his next and most passionate venture: composing.
After being inspired by a bad reality TV show, Bobby began writing
B.R.A.T.T. Camp
about
five troubled teens sent to a wilderness boot camp. Told in the style of URINETOWN meets
[title of show],
B.R.A.T.T. CAMP boasts a pop/rock score with a contemporary musical theatre flair.
The project, which has a large fan following, has been directed by Christopher Gattelli and
featured many of Broadways young rising stars and veterans such as Orfeh and Andy Karl.
Bobby's next project in development is 'TIL DEATH DO US PART about a perfect young preacher, Matthew,
who is killed by his mousy wife, Mary. The score is gospel/southern feel and will feature a large cast headed by Brad Bass Robyn Elizabeth Lee.
The book will be written by Yale grad Andy Sandberg.
Bobby is writing his most traditional sounding musical theatre score working with book writer Harry McEwan
on adapting a film to the stage for Kate Pazakis.
Bobby's music has been sung at concerts all around the country and in NYC at the Duplex,
The Laurie Beechman Theatre, Symphony Space, The D-Lounge, The Lucille Lortel Theatre and more,
and sung by Broadway performers such as: Eden Espinosa, Julie Reiber, Caissie Levy, Kristy Cates,
Brad Bass, Lisa Howard, Adam Fleming, Orfeh, Andy Karl, Kathy Deitch, Anne Brummel, Brian Gallagher,
Anthony Holds, Stanley Bahorek, Ben Cameron, Marty Thomas, Kate Pazakis, Bryce Ryness, Michael Hunsaker,
Don RIchard, Dee Roscioli, Jenny DiNoia and more.
